HAJU/SMELL

HAJU/SMELL was an experience-exhibition concept at the Helsinki City Museum during November '16-April '17.

Five Helsinki-inspired scents designed for the museum by perfume artist Max Perttula were exhibited in a one-scent-per-week cycle.
I took the challenge to design one single space and a lighting concept that could fit every exhibited scent - amusement park, market square by the sea, summer festival, the forest in spring, the smell of a construction-site.
The lighting design consisted of five LED panels covered with dichroic color foil to get a rainbow-like spread of light covering the space. In addition to that, 45 circles of dichroic mirrors were hung from the ceiling. For comfort, 11 WOODNOTES beanbags were arranged into the space.
